Bun Foot Installation
How do I install a Bun Foot?
KCD Bun Feet do not include a threaded insert. Installation depends on the cabinet construction and the level of reinforcement desired. The mounting bolt on all Bun Feet is 5/16" × 18 TPI (standard).
There are two common installation methods:
Option 1: Direct Install into Wood
(Most common for solid wood cabinet bottoms)
- Mark the location
- Identify and mark where the Bun Foot will be installed on the underside of the cabinet.
- Drill a pilot hole
- Drill an appropriately sized pilot hole to accept the 5/16" bolt.
- The pilot hole should be deep enough to allow the foot to sit flush once installed.
- Attach the Bun Foot
- Thread the Bun Foot bolt clockwise directly into the wood until snug.
- Do not overtighten.
📌 This method relies on the cabinet material for holding strength.
Option 2: Install Using a Threaded Insert
(Recommended for added strength or engineered materials)
- Install the threaded insert
- Drill a pilot hole sized for the threaded insert.
- Install the insert into the underside of the cabinet per the insert manufacturer’s instructions.
- Attach the Bun Foot
- Thread the Bun Foot into the installed insert until secure and flush.
📌 This method provides additional durability and is often preferred for long-term or heavier applications.
