VOC Compliance & Cabinet Safety

Is KCD considered low VOC (volatile organic compounds)?

Yes, KCD cabinets are considered low VOC because they meet CARB Phase 2 (CARB2) compliance, a stringent industry standard regulating formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products.

 What CARB2 Compliance Means

CARB2, set by the California Air Resources Board, ensures that products emit low levels of formaldehyde, a known volatile organic compound (VOC). This compliance is essential for promoting healthier indoor air quality and minimizing exposure to harmful chemicals in the home.

Why it matters:

  • Healthier indoor air with reduced formaldehyde emissions
  • Minimized health risks such as respiratory irritation and allergies
  • Environmental responsibility through cleaner materials
  • Peace of mind that your cabinets meet strict safety standards

All KCD cabinets are CARB2 compliant, which confirms they are made using low-emitting composite wood materials. While we do not label our products specifically as "low VOC," this compliance places our cabinets well within that category by regulatory standards.
